I actually painted something III

I got these from my daughter as a recent birthday present and I've been chipping away at them to get them painted. They are Mantic Ogres, the missile weapon version. I like the models for the price, they have character and look a nice combination of brutish and business-like. I've put a Perry human (he is one of the most flamboyant models in my army...) next to them for size comparison. You get six in a box for about $30 NZD assuming you aren't getting them on sale. They have arms for both crossbows and blunderbuss. However, while the stock is large the actual crossbow piece is oddly small, almost something a heroic scaled human could hold.

I was going to do mine as guns anyway but that decided me on going all guns. The downside of the kit is that while there are 3 bodies and 6 faces, all arms are identical. They also have the mouldline from hell all around every one. I did not enjoy scraping that off with the plastic resin mix they are made out of. On the other-hand, I think they look good even with those limitations and my unskilled paintjob so they are good value. I've got a trio of Mantic Angels to do at some time in the future too. Andy is going to help me finally test 'The Book of War' on Sunday. He will be running Orcs. These Ogres will be Mercs in the Cardinal's service.
