I actually painted something

In order of fun:  Gaming > Writing about gaming > .... > Painting. Still, I've got all this stuff for the Fantasy project, and the boxes of Perry plastics are piling up. I see that it was about this time last year that I promised I was going to get this done. On the plus side of the ledger, I do have two Pike squares pretty much done, just a couple of filler bases to get it from 40 figs to two lots of 25 figs. I've also got almost half the Men at Arms done. Half of the shooters are done too. Next up is to make half the Men at Arms ALL DONE. It's piling up because (like everyone else on the internet!) I've got my hands on a box of the Perry Foot Knights. No link needed, you've all seen them 100 times now. Mine are going to be a unit of Infantry with two handed Hammers/Axes. The leftover will be used for something else, they'd make good commanders and front rank troops. But I need to reduce the un-painted pile to make room.

So I painted up this guy: A GW Isle of Blood plastic Griffon. I really like the model and it was actually pretty cheap. I just did a head and lance swap to make it match the rest of my guys. I've left the base for now as it is for the Fantasy wargame I am still writing (better than painting!) and I may yet swap the  GW style square for a clear flying stand of some description. In my game, there is no need to nominally land each turn, and I think the flying base looks better.

I don't like to obsess over the painting but I like how he has come up. I'd be pretty terrified if this was swooping toward my unit. In the Book of War, flying units move 32" when aloft. Rather than landing to fight, they can opt to just grab a couple of enemy models as they swoop low over a unit and then toss them to the ground, screaming and flailing, once they swoop up again. If you are viewing a Gryphon from this angle, you better hope you can fly under your own power.....

    1. I have to make an Orc list now, too? This guy is for my (Human) Imperium but Elves also use them.

    1. Cheers Jason. You're right, electricity makes a lot of sense for an anatomists magical repertoire. Hmm.
