Impetus Fantasy: I actually painted something.

I realise that normal wargamers paint all the time. I've been in a bit of a slump - but look, I've done more!

Human Pikemen, Landser for my new Impetus Fantasy army. The figures are Perry 28mm. I love these figures. Even the boring ones beat out other company's miniatures. I think part of it is that you are getting something more like a metal miniature in a plastic form, in that the Perrys don't seem to go in a whole lot for the multi-pose thing. The advantage is the poses seem to make more sense. I've done the front rank as armoured. I especially like the swordsman model, which I realise you can't really see from this angle.

Or this angle either. I've used a colour scheme, and flag, to make these suitable for Italian Wars Venetians as well. Romagnol Pikemen. I've opted to avoid being too uniform and have kept the overall scheme 'grimey' to make the fantasy figures look a little more 'realistic', whatever that means.

Here is the plan. Pike blocks as squares of 25 models. A Perry box is 40 figs. My first box is split as six T crossbow with Pavise, six T Arquebus with Pavise and four S skirmishing crossbow. So 24 figs to make the Pike block. there is only enough pikes for 18 models, plus two flag models, one of whom can be a pikeman. Then four other figs to make up the unit.

Next on the agenda: ten crossbow.

    1. Not a Fantasy version but maybe like Italian wars Imperials or French or Papal States or Spain or Italian Condottierre? Think of the possibilities!

  3. I love the Perry figures too, i've been making loads of them and still getting ideas for conversions.
A full pike block will definitely be impressive on the tabletop.

  5. Thanks guys. I'm only 1/4 of the way through a box and need 1-2 more. Plus more Gendarmes. Gulp.

Then, being Fantasy, I need monsters! Any of you taken reciept of some of those Reaper Bones? Any good?

  7. Keep up with the progress. At least you're painting and getting models complete. Once I've planned a project I try not to think of the large mountain of work. I try to focus on getting small steps done.

Your models look really good in the pics.
